Job Overview:

Continental Tide is seeking an experienced and skilled Pipefitter. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repair, modernization and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    \n
  • Apply craft for layout, fit up. Install and maintain piping systems on board ships, and submarines such as steam, heat, power, hydraulics, compressed air, sea water, freshwater and chilled water systems.
  • \n
  • Braze various pipe items to support on-site installations, fits and assembles parts into complete assembly and verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • \n
  • Must possess knowledge and experience in planning layout of piping systems following blue prints allowing for conformance to specifications, holes, and obstructions.
  • \n
  • Ability to measure cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of piping.
  • \n
  • Demonstrate strong procedural knowledge of pipe bending and shaping, and knowledgeable in operating shop machines to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings.
  • \n
  • Ability to test installed systems utilizing hydrostatic or other comparable pressure testing means for system integrity after repairs or installation.
  • \n
  • Thorough knowledge of types of piping materials to be utilized for installations based on drawing or blue prints
  • \n
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills
    \n
  • Must possess a high school, trade or vocational school degree
  • \n
  • 5-10 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment.
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred.
  • \n
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
  • \n
  • Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials
  • \n
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
  • \n
  • Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • \n
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
  • \n
  • Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.
