Job Opportunity: Avionics Technician – YYC

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Technician to join a dynamic project in Calgary, Alberta (YYC). This role focuses on validating, troubleshooting, and ensuring the optimal performance of avionics systems for Twin Otter aircraft. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach to help our team deliver exceptional results.

 

Compensation & Benefits

For Contract Employees:

  • Hourly Rate: $50/hour for contractors; $55/hour with applicable licenses
  • Per Diem: $50/day for a 7/7 rotation when working 5 days per week
  • Accommodation: Up to $1,500/month provided
  • Travel: Flights arranged at the start and end of the project

Shifts:

  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Monday to Friday, with potential for weekend overtime

 

Responsibilities:

  • Validate installation and functionality of avionics systems on Twin Otter aircraft
  • Diagnose and resolve design, integration, and equipment issues using diagnostic tools and schematics
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address avionics challenges and implement corrective actions
  • Perform routing, termination, troubleshooting, and Functional Test Procedures (FTPs) on avionics systems
  • Coordinate and perform repairs while ensuring compliance with aviation standards
  • Support the development and maintenance of test platforms and laboratory equipment
  • Manage test equipment inventory and assist with procurement processes

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in Avionics Technology or related field
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documents
  • Proficiency in avionics communication protocols, such as ARINC-429, ARINC-664, CAN, RS-232, MIL-1553, TCP/IP
  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools, electronic test equipment, and software
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Proficient in MS Office and related software tools
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills



Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in avionics installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, preferably in aviation or manufacturing sectors
  • Familiarity with Twin Otter avionics systems is highly desirable
