Band Director

CCDE/Oakstone Academy School is seeking a Band Director for the 2024-25 school year. This can be a part-time or full-time Music/Band Director teaching position. The Children’s Center for Developmental Enrichment (CCDE)/Oakstone Academy School is a private, chartered school in Central Ohio. Its mission is “To Serve Students, Families, and Each Other.” The school serves typically developing and special-needs students from Pre-Kindergarten through High School. It is in Westerville, Ohio, northeast of Columbus. Our special-needs students primarily have autism spectrum disorder.

Qualifications/License:

• Multi-Age (P-12) Music Teaching License through the Ohio Department of Education preferred, or
• BS or BA in Instrumental Performance or Music Education

Responsibilities/Job Highlights

• 4th and 5th-grade beginning band, Middle and High School Music, and Band Teacher for Grades 6 to 12.
• The program includes small ensembles, jazz band, orchestra pit groups, and band teaching duties.
• Strong communication skills to engage students with a diverse range of abilities.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in learning styles for students.
• Create and maintain established music programs to meet individual student needs, interests, and abilities and foster appreciation for multiple genres of music.
• Assess student accomplishments and provide feedback consistently, communicating with school administration and parents when necessary.
• Applies and enforces the school’s mission, student discipline, and classroom management, following the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Certification

• Ability to attain or have attained a Multi-Age (P-12) Music Teaching License through the Ohio Department of Education, or
• Ability to attain a Non-Tax Teaching License with the Ohio Department of Education
• Master’s degree preferred to teach dual enrollment college credit classes.
