Job Description

Position Title: Substance Use Disorder Tech/Drug and Alcohol Tester

Department: Substance Use Disorder

Position reports to: Substance Use Disorder Program Manager

Status: Non-Union/Part-Time

 

Position Summary:

Clínica Msr. Oscar A. Romero’s Substance Use Disorder Tech/Drug and Alcohol Tester will be responsible for administering drug and alcohol screenings for DMC patients enrolled into our Substance Use Disorder Program. The SUD Tech/Tester will ensure that all documentation is accurately completed and compliant with regulatory requirements. Each patient enrolled in the program is required to undergo testing on a weekly basis.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Administers urine screenings (UAs) for Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) patients.

  • Conducts alcohol screenings using breathalyzer’s and Urine tests for DMC Patients

  • Ensures all drug and alcohol tests are completed using the appropriate agency forms.

  • Accurately completes all required documentation and ensures forms are signed off by QA staff.

  • Provides test results to the assigned Case Manger or Counselor.

  • Notifies counselors or case managers of any positive test results. In such cases, reporting DCFS, probation, or housing agencies is required, as mandated.

  • Uploads all completed drug test results into the county system after review with the assigned counselor or case manager.

  • Files all test results in the appropriate sections of the patient’s physical or electronic medical record.

  • Responds to patient inquiries related to drug and alcohol testing.

  • Assists with case management, documentation, group facilitation, and other program-related activities as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Must have completion forty-five hours of formal education in SUD and actively working toward full completion.

  • Must be certified or registered with an approved SUD

  • Must be highly motivated and demonstrate good communication skills.

  • Must be able to deliver strong, high-energy while talking to DMC patients

  • Must have experience in observed drug testing of clients.

  • Spanish bilingual is plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience working with Drug Medi-Cal clients (Adult and Youth) a plus.

  • Understanding of Drug Medi-Cal requirements/process a plus.

  • Must have knowledge of SAGETop of Form.
