Job Summary and QualificationsThe VAD/Solid Organ Transplant Coordinator is a registered nurse who plans, coordinates and implements the care of the solid organ transplant/VAD patient as applicable in both the in-patient and out-patient settings in accordance with the nursing process.

What you will do in this role:

The scope of the role includes acting as liaison with the organ procurement organization and the OPTN, assessing human, financial and material resources of patients and families

Coordinating information flow among medical, ancillary, nursing, financial and insurance company staff

Representing the VAD and transplant program through involvement in hospital and community activities

Coordinator acts as a resource for the VAD INTERMACS data base and transplant statistical database

Call coverage

Key educator for the Transplant/VAD program

Community Outreach

What qualifications you will need:

Two years critical care experience for thoracic coordinator

One-year experience in management of organ failure/transplant patients preferred 

VAD experience preferred

Annual training or update from cardiologist/RESUME surgeon/clinical vendor

CCTC preferred

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
