Job Description

Montare Behavioral Health, located in Tarzana, CA is currently looking for a Full Time Nurse Practitioner!

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide care and medication management for clients in a mental health residential treatment facility with psychiatric disorders under the direction of a medical director.

Essential Duties including but not limited to:

• Assesses patients' mental and physical status based on the presenting symptoms and complaints.
• Documents patients' medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans, medication orders, and outcomes. Writes prescriptions for psychotropic medications as allowed by state regulations and collaborative practice agreements. Monitors patients' medication usage and results.
• Evaluates patients' behavior to formulate diagnoses or assess treatments.
• Educates patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, and treatment plans.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and nursing staff to develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
• Complete medical record documentation within required timeframes.
• Utilization Review as required by insurance companies.
• Conduct weekly follow-up sessions as required.
• Assist in discharge of clients.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to diagnose and treat simple and complex psychiatric and mental health problems from adjustment disorders to serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar illness, major depression, and anxiety disorders.
• Strong skills to manage, coordinate, and evaluate the care and education of the patient and family along the health care process.
• Ability to manage patients who need to be closely monitored.
• Ability to travel to as many as seven separate facilities located in the area to meet with clients for weekly in-person follow-ups.
• Ability to meet with new admissions within 24 hours of intake to complete initial assessment either in-person or via telehealth.
• Trained to adhere to medications and therapies with complex protocols.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• On-call duty required (available to work and respond on short notice).

Education, Licenses & Experience:

• Must possess current Nurse Practitioner License.
• Experience working in a residential treatment facility preferred.
• Experience managing a caseload of 40-50 clients.
• Current professional liability insurance.
• Addiction Medicine certified or similar experience and knowledge.
• Documented compliance with any state statutes and regulations governing advanced practice psychiatric mental health nursing required.

Hiring Requirements:

1. Hiring is contingent upon completion of a Background Check, TB test, and clearance on a drug screen and pre-employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain upon hire.
2. For the mental health program additional requirements include receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint livescan clearance or an exemption and a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508).
