About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for one of the leading Real Estate Investment firms in the San Diego area known for its collaborative work culture, excellent leadership and opportunities for professional growth. This role is responsible for assisting with payroll processing, maintaining compliance, and ensuring accuracy in reporting. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in payroll systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Audit and enter timecard entries into payroll systems.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Coordinate payroll tax payments and payroll-related accounts payable submissions.
  • Work closely with HR on various payroll duties.
  • Oversee payroll deductions for health insurance enrollments, 401K and other deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and benefit statements within labor compliance.
  • Assist with onboarding new hires, ensuring payroll documentation is complete.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in full cycle payroll processing.
  • Hold a Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in payroll accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Solid understanding of California labor laws and timekeeping requirements.
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional coordination.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address payroll discrepancies effectively.
