WashU Medicine is actively recruiting dedicated and skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to manage complex cardiac conditions with our dynamic healthcare teams in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. This advanced practice provider collaborates closely with world-renowned Cardiologists in a fast-paced critical care environment. Cardiology experience coupled with critical care experience is a plus. The APP will monitor, diagnose, and treat critical care patients utilizing the full spectrum of tests and procedures. Patient cases range from complex valve disease, cardiac transplantation, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction, high-risk pulmonary embolism, post-cardiac arrest, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac tamponade, LVAD complications, and other complex cardiac conditions. Primary duties include providing direct patient care, obtaining patient history, performing assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing critical care ultrasound, counseling patients and families, formulating diagnoses, planning and directing treatment, documenting care, managing health conditions via prescriptive authority or referrals, performing diagnostic or therapeutic interventions, invasive procedures, billing for services, supporting 24/7 staffing including nights, weekends, holidays, scheduling staff, maintaining safe therapeutic environments, adhering to policies and quality assurance programs, participating in emergency and critical care situations, and engaging in quality improvement activities. Working conditions include exposure to blood-borne pathogens, chemicals, and other disagreeable elements, with physical effort involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting. Required qualifications include a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), ACLS certification, APRN licensure or ability to obtain within three months, and active Missouri license or ability to obtain. No specific work experience is required. Preferred skills include ACLS, ATLS, BLS, ECMO, HIPAA knowledge, and experience with devices such as Impella, IABP, pacemakers, and VADs. The position offers a $5K relocation bonus and recurring retention bonuses. The salary is commensurate with experience and based on job grade.
