Invitae, now part of Labcorp, offers a field-based Genetic Counselor position for the West territory, primarily covering California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. The role involves acting as a scientific and clinical expert, facilitating education and communication between Labcorp/Invitae and healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and medical associations, mainly related to hereditary cancer. The position allows remote work from your home office when not traveling.

This role requires regional travel within the West, with occasional national and international travel up to 50% overnight. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) builds long-term relationships with KOLs, educates providers, interacts with payers, and collaborates internally across departments. The MSL also serves as an expert on hereditary cancer products and related disease states.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational support to providers, payers, and advocates on Labcorp/Invitae products and prenatal testing.
  • Develop strategic relationships with thought leaders and KOLs.
  • Engage with healthcare providers, investigators, and advisory boards.
  • Serve as an expert resource on hereditary cancer products and educate internal teams.
  • Collaborate with payers and guideline committees to ensure proper product usage and coverage.
  • Create educational activities and tools, including speaker programs and CME events.
  • Attend scientific conferences and prepare summaries for leadership.
  • Participate in product development and messaging.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics.
  • ABGC/ABMG certification.
  • At least 2 years of clinical genetic counseling experience post-Master’s, preferably in hereditary cancer.
  • Experience in prenatal genetic counseling is a plus.
  • Knowledge of antenatal screening, prenatal diagnosis, hereditary cancer, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work remotely.

Additional Information

Salary range: $120,000 - $155,000 annually, plus potential bonuses and benefits.
