Job Description
A well-established regional California law firm is seeking a full-time Legal Practice Assistant to support its litigation team in Downtown Los Angeles. The firm is widely recognized for its impactful work representing public entities, municipalities, and government agencies throughout California.
About the Role:
This position offers the opportunity to be part of high-stakes, complex litigation across state and federal courts, including matters involving civil rights, constitutional law, class actions, and appellate work. The Legal Practice Assistant will provide critical support to attorneys at every stage of the litigation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence
File court documents both electronically and in-person
Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, and scheduling
Prepare tables of authorities and contents
Assist with trial preparation and courtroom logistics
Utilize legal software for document management, calendaring (e.g., CompuLaw), and billing
Coordinate communication and logistics with court personnel and outside vendors
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of litigation support experience in a law firm setting
Deep knowledge of California court rules and filing procedures
Experience with appellate filings and trial support preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal calendaring tools like CompuLaw
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong communication and team collaboration skills
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: Up to $110,000, depending on experience
Hybrid schedule (mix of in-office and remote work)
