The Systems Administrator II is a member of the Libraries IT department, in the TS unit. As the key departmental resource for Apple, Windows, and Linux systems, they provide technical consultations on highly complex projects; provide expertise on all computing platform issues; and train TS colleagues in methods of resolving problems. This position reports to the IT Services Manager. Responsibilities Conduct specialized work in developing and supporting the Libraries’ staff and patron computing environments, including using endpoint management tools to configure devices. Optimize systems performance and analyze systems usage and system load issues. Troubleshoot issues as necessary and diagnose systems problems. Identify technical trends in problem identification and resolutions. Forecast, plan, communicate, test, and implement system upgrades. Develop strategic solutions that improve operational performance and efficiency for computing environments and business technologies across the Libraries. Evaluate the current state of business technology resources and suggest upgrades and enhancements to existing technologies. Conduct cost/benefit and buy/build analyses; present findings and proposals to stakeholder groups. Ensure that technology is appropriately configured, installed, and integrated with legacy solutions. Gather client needs, propose innovative solutions, and ensure client satisfaction with software and hardware products delivered. ITIL Processes The Systems Administrator II will collaboratively develop, establish, and work within Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes and procedures to deliver exceptional IT services to the Libraries.
