Description

Health Unit Coordinator at Providence Medford Medical Center. This posting represents a 0.6 FTE, day shift opening. This is a weekend only position (working from 06:30AM - 7:00PM every Saturday and Sunday).

The Health Unit Coordinator is a key person within the nursing unit, who provides overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; and collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight, and operation of the unit. This position is the hub of all communication to and from the nursing unit; and greatly impacts the "tone" of the unit/shift.

Required qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training in Medical terminology course Or equivalent educ/experience
  • 1 year experience performing secretarial duties in healthcare, or equivalent training in a recognized healthcare program
  • Experience with a variety of software applications

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year post high school education.
  • Satisfactory completion of health unit coordinator coursework Or equivalent educ/experience
  • Upon hire: National Certification Health Unit Coordinator
  • Experience as a preceptor/role model
