The **CHEF'S GARDEN GARDENER'S** essential purpose is plan, schedule, and facilitate the planting, transplanting and care of all trees, shrubbery, flowers, and culinary gardens on hotel property.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES, include but not limited to:**

* To establish and follow proper procedures for the routine care of all culinary gardens and green houses.

* To satisfactorily perform routine Gardening functions, including pruning, trimming, thinning, watering, fertilizing, spraying, tying and staking, seeding, planting, transplanting, and soil cultivation.

* To maintain the professional appearance of sidewalks, pathways, and parking areas adjacent to property lawns and culinary gardens.

* To direct and train assisting laborers and/or working parties, in the correct methods of garden cultivation and farming practices.

* To harvest, clean and deliver produce to hotel food & beverage outlets/kitchen on a regular basis and as requested by the Chefs.

* To develop multi-year/season garden and greenhouse plan.

**JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:** High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Spanish fluency helpful. Requires "hands on" working knowledge of all necessary equipment, and the proper application of fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Qualified Applicators Certificate (QAC) or Qualified Applicators License (QAL) from Department of Pesticide Regulations desired. Must have minimum one year experience in all aspects of gardening, including a broad knowledge of plant varieties and their care. Hotel experience preferred.

Customer service focus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Trustworthy and reliable. Ability to work productively with little supervision. Ability to effectively manage staff.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**: Works outdoors throughout shift, in all weather conditions. Exposed to hazardous substances and fumes. Works on all surfaces, including cement, soil, and grass. Exposed to noise of power-driven machinery. Conducts work on greens while games are in session, and could be vulnerable to players' balls. Extensive property.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** Stands/walks approximately 80% of shift. Sits/drives approximately 20% of shift. May be required to work at extreme heights. Frequently required to handle and move objects weighing between 50 lbs. to 80 lbs. over short distances. Bends, stoops, reaches, and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Flexibility and good reflexes required to operate power-driven machinery. Must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to sun.
