Job Description
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES - Safely operate a dump truck in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
- Ensure load weight is in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.
- Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material transport and delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner.
- Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
- Perform basic maintenance on the truck when necessary.
- Extensive travel may be required.
- Accurately navigate a dump truck using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off.
- Properly wear and safely use PPE.
- Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class B or A CDL
- Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating dump trucks preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for materials.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic mechanical skills for minor truck maintenance.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
