Overview The Hatcher Group is seeking an experienced, mission-driven communications professional with a strong background in media relations to join our team. As our in-house media relations specialist, you’ll lead strategic media relations initiatives for clients committed to causes such as public health, education, and the environment. You will manage high-impact public relations campaigns, identify key media outlets and strategic partners to enhance client reach, and secure both national and local media coverage. You will play a key role in driving impactful campaigns for nonprofit organizations, government entities, and partners aligned with Hatcher’s commitment to justice and sustainability. What You’ll Do Lead media relations strategy and execution across multiple client accounts. Draft and edit press releases, op-eds, media advisories, and other public-facing content. Identify and cultivate relationships with national and local media outlets and partners. Develop comprehensive media strategies tailored to target audiences and client goals. Secure media placements and coverage that elevate client initiatives. Manage integrated public relations campaigns across our practice areas. Coordinate with creative and digital teams to support media outreach with compelling content. Contribute positively to a team environment rooted in the firm’s core values. Requirements What You’ll Bring We’re seeking a passionate and collaborative professional eager to make a difference. The ideal candidate will have: 7+ years of media relations and public relations experience; prior agency experience is a plus. Proven track record of securing national and local media placements. Exceptional writing skills with expertise in press releases, op-eds, and strategic messaging. Experience developing and executing media strategies across practice areas. Demonstrated expertise in pitch/placement for media sources including podcast, blog, newsletter, and broadcast outlets. Strong client-management skills and ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to business development efforts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Monday.com or similar project management tools. Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple deadlines. Flexibility to quickly adapt when high-priority needs arise. Experience working under pressure with deadlines.
