Position Overview
We are supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs acquisition office remotely and seeking a Jr Contract Specialist to provide acquisition support services. This entry-level position is ideal for professionals looking to build their federal contracting expertise while contributing to mission-critical procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support cradle-to-grave acquisition functions, including requirements gathering, solicitation preparation, evaluation support, award documentation, and contract closeout.
Conduct market research and assist in developing acquisition strategies.
Draft and maintain contract file documentation in accordance with FAR/VAAR requirements.
Provide administrative and analytical support for price/cost analysis and Independent Government Estimates.
Research and interpret acquisition policy, regulations, and directives.
Communicate effectively with government staff, stakeholders, and contractors.
Utilize federal acquisition systems such as eCMS, FPDS, SAM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum Requirements
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of acquisition support experience with a Federal agency. Experience must include working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and demonstrated ability to support acquisitions at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
Education: Minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields: accounting, law, business, finance, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
OR a FAC-C Professional Certification OR DAWIA Level I in Contracting.
Skills:
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
Strong research and analytical skills, including interpreting technical and cost data.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with VA-specific systems such as eCMS and GSA eBuy.
Knowledge of VA Acquisition Regulation (VAAR).
