Description:
Prepares, reviews, updates, and submits claims to Medicare, Medicaid and third party payers for reimbursement of hospice services provided. The billing clerk verifies the accuracy and completeness of billing data and adheres to regulatory requirements regarding claim submission. Performs chart audits; maintains accounts receivable records and payments; and various other clerical duties as assigned.
Requirements:High School graduate or equivalent required; associate degree or billing certification preferred. General knowledge of medical records, medical terminology, and third party reimbursement or medical billing experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. Must possess diplomacy and tact in dealing with clients and staff both by phone and in person, and be able to adapt to fluctuating situations. Excellent communication and customer service skills, familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare compliance standards. General office skills: filing, data entry, phone etiquette, computer experience.
