Our CPA firm in Ashburn, VA is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer to join our team. The Tax Preparer will be responsible for preparing individual and business tax returns, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tax Preparation:
2. • Prepare and file individual, corporate, partnership, and other business tax returns.
   • Ensure accurate and timely submission of tax forms, meeting all deadlines.
   • Analyze financial information and review client documents to determine tax liabilities, deductions, credits, and other tax-related information.
   • Assist clients in gathering necessary documentation and information to complete their returns.
3. Client Consultation:
4. • Consult with clients to understand their financial situations and provide personalized tax advice.
   • Answer client inquiries regarding tax laws, filing procedures, and potential deductions or credits.
   • Provide guidance on tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
   • Develop strong client relationships and maintain regular communication during the tax preparation process.
5. Compliance and Research:
6. • Stay updated on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
   • Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide recommendations or solutions to clients and team members.
   • Assist in responding to IRS and state tax authorities regarding tax notices and audits.
7. Recordkeeping and Documentation:
8. • Maintain accurate and organized records of client information and tax documents.
   • Ensure that all documentation is in compliance with the firm’s policies and regulatory requirements.
   • Prepare and review necessary forms, reports, and tax documentation for accuracy and completeness.
9. Collaboration with Team:
10. • Work closely with CPAs and other team members to ensure efficient tax preparation processes.
    • Assist with special projects and other tasks related to tax planning, compliance, and accounting services.
    • Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and training to stay informed about changes in tax laws and firm procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, preferably in a CPA or tax preparation firm.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Proficiency with tax software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, or ProSeries) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred but not required.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Working Hours:

• Full-time position with extended hours during tax season (January to April).
• Flexible schedule outside of tax season.

We are growing our practice in the area and we are looking for a person who is comfortable taking this entry level position to grow into a staff accountant. This position is ideal for a teammate who is looking for a long-term full-time position
