Job Description
As an Activities Assistant at Silverfern North, an independent senior living community, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a wide range of activities and events to enhance the well-being and quality of life for our residents. Your role is to create a vibrant and engaging social atmosphere that fosters positive interactions, active participation, and overall happiness within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Activities & Engagement:
- Collaborate with the Activities Director to plan and organize a variety of social, recreational, and cultural activities suitable for seniors.
- Actively engage with residents to identify their interests, preferences, and needs.
- Encourage residents to participate in activities and promote a sense of community.
- Lead, facilitate, or assist with the execution of activities, including but not limited to arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, educational workshops, and outings.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to residents during activities.
- Help plan and implement themed decorations and settings for special events and holidays.
- Create a festive and inviting atmosphere for celebrations.
- Maintain an inventory of activity materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure all necessary materials are readily available for each activity.
- Outings and Excursions:
- Assist in organizing trips and outings to local attractions, events, and scenic destinations.
- Ensure resident safety and comfort during off-site excursions.
- Communication:
- Communicate regularly with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming activities and events.
- Gather and address resident feedback and suggestions for future activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or coursework in recreation, hospitality, or gerontology is a plus.
- Previous experience as an activities assistant in a senior living, hospitality, or recreational setting is preferred.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and compassionate nature.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to the needs and abilities of diverse residents.
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
